What Does Customer Service Really Mean?


Many attempts have been made to define customer service. But first and foremost, customer service should be about customers! So here's a definition, from the customer's point of view.

*"Customer Service is a function of how well an organization is able to constantly and consistently exceed the needs of the customer."

Lets break this down further:
  • "Is able to" - it's an ability to, a skill
  • "constantly and consistently" - they're doing it all the time and have proven this ability
  • "exceeds the needs" - more customer happiness than customer satisfaction
  • "the customer" - makes the customer an individual, rather than a group, with his special needs and wants

Used Vail Sports Mountain Plaza. The customer service was outstanding - always someone available to help with everything from retail to helping put on/take off ski boots!”

The entire staff was extremely helpful, especially a girl named Solomon. She went the extra mile to make our experience better. She even helped members unbuckle boots at the end of the day, wow and always smiling.”

I have odd sized feet so my rental process was probably longer than normal but the staff worked until I had boots that fit comfortably.”

Staff was available and helpful. They were always there to greet you and take your skis.

The people assisting me made this easy and quick. All employees were courteous, and surprise, had great attitudes and fielded all questions clearly and politely! Thanks.

The staff was great and all of my equipment was there waiting for me to pick it up. Location was great. The process could not have been easier. Return took less than 5 minutes which was amazing. The rental experience made my trip to Vail very easy and smooth. I could not have asked for a better time.”

It's great. The store is neat and comfortable and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I especially appreciate the free service for storing our shoes upon checking out the ski equipment in the morning and for storing the ski equipment at end of the day.

The Breckenridge Staff (and Manager) was very helpful and courteous; went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied.

am glad I receved this survey because after my rental experience, I wanted to acknowledge the AWESOME staff at Telluride Sports where I rented. Each and every one of them were soooo AWESOMe. They were polite and very helpful. I can't say enough about them. They made it so easy to rent and assisted me in getting the perfect boot. When I left, I thanked them and told them they were the best... Their response was, "No, you are the best!" Nice group of staff..... If and when I'm able to return, I will again do business with Telluride Sports. Renting was never a hassle. Thank you again.

We went in the evening just before closing to avoid the lines, and the staff members were all very helpful. We even left our equipment in the store overnight and picked it up again the next morning with no wait. It was a good experience.

I work in the hospitality industry and would like to mention that the help from the staff was incredible. I had very specific items noted about the help such as a friendly greet (smiles), direction on how to follow the steps to rental, someone helping with my children's shoes (7 and 10 years of age) outside of the rental process, having our information on file (not sure how you had it but made filling out the forms much easier), accommodating our needs in length of rental (we weren't sure for how long but needed the flexibility to cancel via phone).... There were several other items not mentioned in order to keep this survey at a reasonable length. THANK YOU.

reservation was made for a different location but the staff was very accomodating. website should clealrly mention there are 2 rental locations in BC with different pricing. the satff was exceedingly accomodating, hence high marks

Peak sports has the greatest staff. Every single person was totally friendly and helpful. I couldn't find a community tip jar but they sure deserved one. Five stars!!!

The staff in Silverthorne has provided excellent and courteous service. Chris and the rest of the staff keep things moving. Set up was quick and pleasent.

I'm so glad you asked. Seth, at the Gondola location at Aspen, was the most helpful service person I have ever encountered. He really has the gift of customer service. I am not exaggerating. He is a great asset to your company. He should be in charge of "customer service training." Also, the next day, Robert was also very helpful and pleasant. My sincere gratitude for a most pleasant retail experience.

One of the best parts of our ski trip is the ease with which we get our equipment, store it daily and return it at the end of the week! Everyone at Aspen Sports has been great...5 years running and beyond! They get us on and off the slopes in such an efficient and friendly way

We arrived 20 minutes late and they were closed, but the staff saw us and opened the doors to let us return our stuff. This was a tremendous help, b/c we would've had to come in the following morning to return which would've been a headache.

The best ski rental experience we've had - excellent service from staff in recommending and fitting as well as in regard to storage (retrieval and return each day). We'll definitely be back.

Everybody was extremely helpful and friendly. I will continue to use Vail Sports for my future ski rentals. During the week being able to store my equipment overnight was also very nice. THis was quick and easy.

Do you rent helmets?
